I was recently asked to share this recipe as it was another favorite at my restaurant. It’s just simple ingredients that pack a host of health benefits!
Fresh turmeric root – The active ingredient in turmeric, curcumin is a powerful anti-inflammatory and dramatically improves our body’s ability to fight free radical damage due to its antioxidant properties.
Fresh ginger root – This unassuming root also packs a powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant punch. It is thought to help fight against viruses.
Black pepper – It, too, is high in antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties. Black pepper helps increase the bioavailability of turmeric, so it is an important addition to this recipe.
Coconut oil – Promotes nutrient absorption and is healing to the gut, skin, and hair.
Turmeric Paste for Golden Coffee
A simple turmeric paste that can be used in many different ways.
3 – 2 inch pieces turmeric root, peeled
1 – 1 inch piece ginger root, peeled (more if you like)
1/4 -1/2 tsp freshly ground black pepper
1/4 cup neutral flavor coconut oil
1/4-1/2 cup filtered water
Place all the ingredients in a high-speed blender and blend until smooth. Store in a glass jar in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
For the coffee combine: 1-2 tsp turmeric paste + 1 dried, pitted date + 1 tbs MCT oil + 1 scoop collagen peptides. Place all the ingredients in a high-speed blender and blend until frothed. Pour into your favorite coffee mug. Enjoy!
